I really bummed myself out earlier this month. I went to help out with my son’s class for their ladybug day. They hatched and raised ladybugs and they were doing activities before releasing them. I realized after I did my galaxy mani that I should have done ladybug nails! I still thought ladybugs would be cute and I did get compliments on them. Please excuse the tip wear on this one, I didn’t get to take the photo right away. I used all Zoya polishes for this one. I started with a base of Rekha, let it dry, then painted Raven on for the head, wing separation, and the spots with a nail art brush. When that was dry I used the same brush to paint the white patterns on the heads with Purity. I used HK Girl top coat to smooth it all out. I’m pretty happy with how this mani came out overall. I’m looking forward to getting back into doing more nail art!
So I knew that I wanted to give galaxy nails another shot. This time I changed up the colors a bit. I started with a base of Zoya Raven and then sponged on China Glaze Snow.
Now is where I start to get a little lost… I may have forgotten which colors I used next. I can’t remember what pink I used, maybe a Sinful Colors polish that I just got. And I believe I used a purple China Glaze after that.
Now I know I used China Glaze Frostbite for the blue and then topped it with Gothic Gala Lacquer’s Krystal Sparkle. I did the stars with Snow again but I’m thinking I should have skipped the white stars and done some big glitter or maybe just tiny silver stars.
Here’s the final product. Overall I like how the colors turned out, but I think I ruined it with the stars. That’s pretty much what happened with the last galaxy mani too. Next time I swear I’ll do better!
So some of you know that I work at a donut shop, and Friday, June 6th was National Donut Day. I don’t normally work on Fridays but I was asked to come in to help out. I thought it would be pretty cool to do donut nails. I used all Zoya colors for this mani, I find they are great for nail art like this because they have a thinner consistency but are still very pigmented. I started with a base of Flynn and then painted on Louise and Purity with the regular polish brushes for the icing. Then I used a toothpick at a slight angle to paint on the sprinkles. I used Shelby, Pippa, Arizona, Robyn, Josie, and Reagan for those. I wanted to use more of a purple instead of Shelby, but for some very odd reason I don’t have any purple creme Zoyas! I got a lot of compliments on my nails on Friday and Saturday while at work. I’ll definitely have to do more food manis soon!
I probably should have posted this one for Earth day, but I thought of it too late! For this mani I started with a base of Zoya Purity and did a gradient with Purity, Robyn, and Josie. The trees are Louise and the leaves are Fresh Paint Sugar Crush. This mani was really fun to do, and I realized I could have made it all Zoya polishes because I do have two of their flakies. I’d love to do this again a little neater and maybe with some more detail, like shading the trees and painting in some clouds.
I’ve been meaning to go something else geeky lately. I’ve seen people do storm trooper nails and thought they would be fairly easy. My hand isn’t quite as steady as needed for tiny details, so they came out a little bit rough, but you get the idea. I did the Galactic Empire emblem on my thumb because I kind of got tired of trying to get the storm troopers right. It came out a little uneven too, but not too bad. I used Zoya Purity and Raven for this mani.
I wasn’t quite sure where I was going with this look when I started. I began with a base of Zoya Suri and then put Maisie on my ring fingers as an accent. It wasn’t enough for me, I needed to turn it into nail art. I decided to alternate Maisie and Chloe then couldn’t decide if I wanted it to be matte or not. Why not both? I took some striping tape and did stripes of Fresh Paint’s Matte Top Coat. Some of the matte didn’t turn out right so the next morning I put tape back over the blank spots and did another coat of matte. This made it more matte and gave it more height which I think came out pretty cool. This look seems really tropical to me and really makes me miss warm weather.
Happy Valentine’s Day loves! Here’s a quick mani using Zoya Dovima with top coat and Chyna. I originally tried doing swirls of Chyna, but I wasn’t getting lines thin enough for my liking. So I did much easier little hearts! Just start with two dots next to each other and drag them down to connect. I liked how well my thumb came out but it was kind of tough to get a good angle.
