Color Challenge #7 – Navy and Lavender

I did it everybody! I got through my entire color challenge using this color pairing chart.

Last on the list is navy and lavender. I two coats of Marbles For Polish Lavender Macaron and then hand painted messy stripes on with Zoya Sailor. I actually started fairly neat on my right hand but got impatient and by the time I got to my left hand this was the result.

I think this is actually the mani that got the most compliments out of all my color challenge ones. I was a little bummed about how sloppy it was at first, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. My husband even said it looked like I did it on purpose because of how evenly spaced the stripes were.

IMG_3426a

The color pairing itself isn’t my favorite, but I think this is one of my favorites out of the whole challenge. I also realized that I have a striped shirt that’s these exact colors! If you have any color pairings on this list please go to my facebook page and post your pictures in the comments of the corresponding posts.

And on another polish note, I’ll be releasing my Sailor Moon Crystal collection as a discounted pre-order this Friday, September 4th! Single full sized bottles will be available for purchase at $9 each AFTER the pre-order is over; the last day to pre-order will be September 8th. During the pre-order you can get either the full sized collection for $40 or the mini collection for $20.

Blog posts and swatches for this collection are starting to come out, so keep an eye out for those. You can also find more info about these polishes on my facebook page or my facebook group, Marbles For Polish and More!

Color Challenge #4 – Red and Gold

I’m back with another color challenge today! This time around is red and gold, only three more to go now! I’m very excited about doing the next few.

18019ae2ac192e164480994d68640371

I used two coats of Zoya Livingston as a base and I sponged on Marbles For Polish Golden Daze as a glitter gradient. Golden Daze is one of my newly released glitters than can be worn on it’s own or as a glitter topper. You can find it along with another ten new polishes in my etsy shop!

IMG_2681a IMG_2685a

Here are a couple photos with flash to show the gold holo micro glitter in Golden Daze. I love how sparkly it is!

IMG_2701a IMG_2692a

How do you guys like this one? I’m still obsessed with all things holo since it’s been so sunny lately, so Golden Daze and my other glitter toppers really satisfy my craving for rainbow bling. And don’t forget that if you have a red and gold mani, or any of the other color combos I’ve posted do far, go check out my facebook page and comment with your pictures on each post.

Champagne Glitter Gradient

Hey, long time, no see! Sorry for being absent here for a bit, but if you’d like to stay updated in other ways I do post on facebook and instagram. I should have a bunch of posts coming up this next month because I’ll be doing a nail art challenge using this color pairing chart. Pedis aren’t necessary, I’m doing it all on my finger nails.

18019ae2ac192e164480994d68640371

If you would like to join me I’ll be doing them in order starting on August 7th and then posting every Monday and Friday in August until I’ve finished. You can post yours to any social media, but I encourage you to post your pictures in the comments when I post each blog entry on facebook so everybody can see them in one place.

And now on to the actual mani the post is about! I used two coats of Zoya Jules which is a beautiful shimmery taupe polish. I sponged on one of my upcoming Marbles For Polish glitters, Lady Charms. This glitter topper is similar to China Glaze Fairy Dust and Golden Enchantment because it’s both a gold and silver micro glitter.

IMG_2572a IMG_2589a

This mani really reminds me of a bubbly champagne. I think I would wear this again to a classy event because it’s neutral but a little bit jazzed up. Are you guys excited about the new polishes I have coming out? If you haven’t seen them yet check out my instagram for some sneak peeks and look out for all of them early to mid August.

Iron Man

Hello everyone! Before I get started with my nails I’d like to wish a very happy birthday to my little girl Andraia (Andi). She’s 3 today, I can barely believe it!

20150413_162418

Now who’s seen the new Avengers movie? My husband and I saw it on the 1st and really liked it. I still think the first Avengers was a little better but all the Marvel movies are awesome. Iron Man has probably always been my favorite Avenger, Robert Downey Jr is absolutely perfect for that roll and just makes me love Iron Man even more. So I decided to do some Iron Man nail art the other day.

IMG_2183a

On my middle finger and thumb I did 3 coats of The Mechanic by Marbles For Polish. On my pinkie I used just one coat of Zoya Alix. For my index and ring fingers I started with a base of Zoya Brooklyn and topped it with Kerry. For the details on my ring finger I painted on Alix, Willa, and Purity with a thin nail art brush. I top coated everything and there you have it!

 IMG_2163aIMG_2172a

Who is your favorite Avenger if you’re into the movies and/or comics? Would you like to see me try to represent more Marvel characters? I’ve been meaning to do Spiderman nail art lately, maybe that one will be next.

Sweet Tooth Water Marble

Hey everybody! I totally meant to have this blog post up on Monday, but it’s here for you now! Believe it or not, I haven’t done a full rainbow water marble until now. Of course I had to use my new Sweet Tooth collection for this instead of searching for other colors that went together. These are all neon holos, which sadly don’t show as much sparkle in these pictures as I would have liked. I did a coat of a white creme that I made underneath to make sure the colors would pop.

 IMG_2115a IMG_2111a

I had to include my right hand too because the color really popped and it looked more uniform.

 IMG_2127a IMG_2119a

I did have a little trouble with this marble but that was because I wasn’t using filtered water like normal and I was at the bottom of all the polishes so they got a little thick. Overall they came out really well and I only had to re-do a couple nails. I think I will have to experiment with more full rainbows soon. I’ll break out some Zoya cremes and see what I can do. Do you guys like doing water marbles? What’s your best?

WIW Review: The Polished Pachyderm

Hey everybody, I’ve got a brand new polish brand to show you today! The brand is called The Pachyderm Polish and so far from what I’ve seen this brand is going to go far. The creator, Cristie, sent me an unnamed flakie topper and I love it!

press sample

I tried it over a black holo first. It really adds a cool effect to the black. It’s a little colorful but still very dark. This is one coat plus a top coat.

IMG_1740a IMG_1728a

IMG_1723a

Then I put it over a white holo and it really popped! Over the white you can really see the multichrome aspect of the flakies better. They have a purple/green shift. This is one coat with top coat again.

IMG_1700a IMG_1697a

IMG_1713a

The formula is nice and smooth and easy to remove as well. The dry time was a little longer than I’m used to with some indies, but still very quick for polish in general. The wear time was really good for me as well. I’ve already used this polish more than once and I’m really looking forward to seeing what else The Polished Pachyderm has to show.

Review: Anne Kathleen Snowfall In Silver

I’ve got quite a long post for you guys today, so please bare with me! I had the pleasure of trying out five new polishes from Anne Kathleen. The collection is called Snowfall in Silver and they are all stunning linear holo glitter toppers. I used two coats for each of these polishes, some go on a lot more opaque because of the amount of glitter, so they can be worn alone. Others are still pretty sheer with two coats so they’ll be better for a topper over other colors. They all went on nice and smooth, dried quickly and lasted pretty long for me. All photos on the left are without flash and all on the right are with flash.

It’s really hard to say which of these polishes are my favorite. The linear effect is much stronger in the polishes with less glitter, but the ones with more glitter are great to wear on their own. I really love Silver and Silvia and I love how linear the holo is in Sylvan. Which out of these is your favorite? Try them out for $10 each by shopping at http://annekathleen.com/

Legend of Zelda Polishes

Hey everybody! I’ve got a pretty late post for you today but it’s definitely worth it. I will be releasing a new polish collection based on The Legend of Zelda franchise on Friday, November 14th. All four polishes are opaque linear holos with smooth application and they will run $10 each. From left to right are: Courage, Power, Wisdom, and Trinity.

IMG_0378a

Here I did some nail art using all four polishes. I started with a base of Trinity and using striping tape, painted on the other three colors in a triangle pattern. Left is without flash and right is with. All of these colors are stunning in the sun, especially power which is a great plain one coat black out of sunlight, but is super rainbowy in the sun.

Review: Dragon Claw Polish

Happy Friday everybody! I’ve got a brand new indie for you today, and I have to say I am very impressed so far. I tested out a polish from Dragon Claw Polish a while ago and loved it, and this time around I got the chance to try out a whole soon to be released collection called Icky Made Pretty.

press sample

The first polish I tried is called Spider Eyes. It’s a black jelly with shifting flake pigment. It goes from purple to gold beautifully. I did two thicker coats for opacity or three thin coats would also work. The application was smooth and cleanup was easy. Dry time was great as well. This is definitely my favorite from this collection, it’s a great fall color with a lot of dimension.

IMG_0599a IMG_0612a

IMG_0619a IMG_0617a

Next I put on Dragon Fly Wings, a beautiful blue with a green/gold shifting shimmer. This one also had a great dry time and I did two coats, but I would recommend three to get rid of the visible nail line. This is my second favorite out of these polishes, it also has a lot of dimension and would be good for either spring or winter.

IMG_0644a IMG_0646a

IMG_0655a IMG_0653a

Next up is Ant Venom, a orchid chrome polish. I did two coats for opacity and the dry time was very good. I rushed this one so you might see some imperfections, but that is by no means because of the polish. I love how this one leans toward a purpley pink.

IMG_0664a IMG_0667a

IMG_0676a IMG_0671a

Last is Moth Dust, a sheer white with pink shimmer, iridescent glitter and purple micro bar glitter. This one definitely does remind me of moth dust. I did three coats and there was still some VNL. It looked good even with just the first sheer coat and you can also use it over other polishes. Again, dry time was very good and even with the glitter the clean up was easy.

IMG_0689a IMG_0677a

IMG_0693a IMG_0695a

I did use a top coat over all these polishes, I used Ellagee’s Glass over Spider Eyes because I completely forgot to use Diamond Claw, the top coat that was included in my box from Dragon Claw Polish. It was nice and thin so it went on easily and dried fast. It’s definitely up there with a lot of other great top coats I’ve tried out. Look out for all these products coming soon from Dragon Claw Polish, they’re all great!

Wear It Wednesday

I’m getting a bright and early start today for once! And what a beautiful polish I have to get you going as well. This is I Love Nail Polish Sirene. It’s a beautiful multichrome that mostly shift purple/green but has hints of blue, red, and gold at some angles. This polish went on super smooth and took 3 coats to reach opacity, but you could also do a coat or two over black instead. I got this polish in a swap and I’m so happy I did! I love the couple ILNP colors that I have and I would still really like to get more.
